Joan Herlong is the Owner, CEO, and a broker at Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty. Joan’s work has set a high bar among Realtors in any market. Joan began her real estate career in 1993 and quickly distinguished herself as the top-producing agent for a national brand. In 2011, she founded her own company. Despite a market cooled by the recession, she became the best-selling Realtor in the Greenville MLS in her first year. Her success caught the attention of Sotheby’s International Realty and she became affiliated with their brand in 2017—her business tripling in volume and agents since then.

Since 1993, Joan has personally closed over 1,000 deals. In her company, Joan is an active broker handling her own volume of listings and celebrates her associates’ wins without claiming credit for them. She ascribes her success to putting clients first and giving credit where it is due. A fierce advocate for her staff and clients, Joan has established a reputation of integrity, professionalism, and tenacity.

Joan grew up in the suburbs of Chicago before attending the University of Virginia where she met her husband, William. Joan worked as a news writer for CNN, in advertising with Leo Burnett, and as a freelance writer. In 1989, the couple settled in Greenville, South Carlina where they have established deep roots. Joan and William have four children who grew up in Greenville, moved away, and all returned to start lives of their own. Joan and William have six grandchildren, so far.
